Slow Cooker Baked Beans

4 cups dry navy beans (soaked overnight or partially cooked)
4 cups tomato puree
1/2 to 1 onion in large chunks
6 Tbsp brown sugar or
1/4 cup molasses + 2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 - 1 tsp salt
