Bachan Buns

Bachan Buns by Bachan Hamade
1 pkg yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1 tsp sugar
Let stand for 10 minutes

1 3/4 cup warm water
1 rounded Tbsp milk
3 Tbsp sugar
3 Tbsp liquid shortening
1 tsp salt
1 egg
6 cups flour

Combine water, milk, sugar, shortening and salt. Add 3-4 cups flour. Mix well. Add egg and mix well again. Add yeast mixture and mix. Add remaining flour. Put in greased bowl and let stand at 70-75 F for 1 hour (until twice the bulk) Punch down. Cut into bun size and place on greased pan. Brush top with evaporated milk. Let stand in warm place (about 1 hour.) Bake at 400 F ove 10-12 minutes or till golden brown on top.
